Start here - welcome aboard!
Four Hour Freedom is a weekly newsletter about building a real business on four hours a day - without burning out, cutting corners, or pretending constraints don’t exist.
Who writes this
I’m Simon Theakston, a UK-based solopreneur running a B2B consultancy and this newsletter. In 2023 I had a stroke. It changed everything - including how I work.
I now work 8–10am and 2–4pm. That’s it. Not as an experiment, and not because I read a book about it. Because it’s what my body will allow.
What I’ve discovered is that four hours, done properly, is enough. Not to hustle. Not to grind. To build something sustainable, profitable, and (crucially!) something that doesn’t cost you your health.
Every week I document what’s working, what isn’t, and the specific tools and systems that make it possible.
Who this is for
You’ll get the most from Four Hour Freedom if you’re building something on your own and starting to suspect that working more isn’t the answer.
Maybe you’re dealing with your own constraints - energy, health, family, time. Maybe you’ve just hit a wall with the way most business advice is written for people with unlimited hours and a team behind them. Maybe you just more time to do what you really want to do.
This newsletter is for people who want to build differently.
Start with these three
If you’re new, here are three articles that should give you a good flavour of what you’ll find here:
How I Use Claude to Plan My Week in Under 10 Minutes — the most practical place to start. A real system you can use immediately.
How I Built a Planning System That Runs Itself - how I automated the thinking that used to drain me every Sunday night
The TickTick Setup That Runs My Four-Hour Day - the task management structure behind everything I do.
What you’ll get
One article every Saturday. Occasionally a short note mid-week. No filler, no fluff, no content for the sake of it.
If that sounds like what you’re looking for - welcome aboard.
